I believe Rick Geller says it best. Florida's infrastructure needs to advance and putting off mass transit projects will only negatively impact the region. With construction sprawling out of control across the landscape, the state's roads are now gridlocked, but nobody is willing to look to the future. As Geller writes, nobody questions money for road projects, but rail projects have gotten plenty of scrutiny. I believe that it is vital to not only the transit system, but to the economy of the state that adequate mass transportation is developed.

Kevin, that makes good sense to me. I've used public transit for over ten years, and there needs to be much more of it.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, politicians in Florida have been very scared to upgrade our public transit. During the housing boom, the I-4 corridor exploded, but there was no appropriate action taken modifying the current infrastructure until it was too late.
ReplyDeleteIt takes over an hour to travel 20 miles. What is even more unfortunate is that there is talk by some local politicians that the only way out of the current economic crunch is to encourage even more building, but nobody seems to want to divert any funds towards education, safety, and transportation, leaving an over-burdened city with even more burdens.
