It seems that the far-right has been drawing comparisons to the Nazi party and the Democrats, but I was thinking of some Adolf Hitler quotes, and they sound surprisingly familiar, and that is because the quotes pretty much detail the
conservative strategy against health care, among other Obama administration initiatives. Here is a look at some quotes by the fuhrer:
"How fortunate for leaders that men do not think."
"It is always more difficult to fight against faith than against knowledge."
"All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach."
Consider how simple the accusations from the right are, coupled with their coverage 24/7, and you got a message for the "least intelligent." Consider the recent push by Glenn Beck against organized religion backing the health care reform bill, claiming it is a perversion of faith, or his
attacks against NPR for being intellectual. Think of all the Betsy McCaughey lies or the ridiculous "birther" lie that Orly Taitz was fighting.
"He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future."
"It is not truth that matters, but victory"
Consider the most recent news regarding the Texas Board of Education infusing right wing politics and religion into the nation's textbooks, and my personal favorite:
"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it"

In my opinion this is what the small portions of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” have brought you. They are good at “Follow the Leader” of their dullard leaders, they listen to Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush and Savage and the rest of the Blowhards. Are you surprise at what they do when you know what they think? The world is complicated and most republicans (Hamiliton, Lincoln, Roosevelt) believe that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now its about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. Although most republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe they have a long way to go.
ReplyDeleteWhat surprises me is that the fringe is bleeding into the party in varying degrees. Consider the language Republicans are using. They are trying to capture the "birthers, baggers and blowhards" while continuing to claiim that they are big-tenters. Things don't add up.
ReplyDeleteWould the conservatives look at a liberal who is willing to embrace both his moderate and communist-leaning constituents? No. They would be called socialist/communist/Marxist/whatever and they will be attacked relentlessly. When the tables turn, the right screams that they are only protecting populism and that they are trying to give what the people, their people, want...
