Obama Emraces Conservative Ideas, GOP Balks

President Obama had announced that he would incorporate four Republican ideas - "reform the way states handle medical malpractice suits, reduce waste and abuse in the health care system, increase Medicaid reimbursements to doctors and expands health savings accounts." Obama had announced these changes in addition to stripping out parts of the current legislation, such as the conservative dubbed "Corn Husker kickback" or "Lousiana purchase," but the GOP is still not happy.

"I don't know if we should be insulted or humored at the president's feeble attempts to incorporate Republican ideas into his latest health care proposal," Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., said in a written statement.

It seems obvious with this move that Republicans have no interest in working with the administration at all, and that any mention of Democrats not accepting Republicans ideas were only bluffs, and now that Obama had caught the GOP in the middle of their balk, hopefully the passage of the legislation can continue. I doubt that the news will make any mention of this, for they seem infatuated with the idea of reconciliation that any news regarding GOP hypocrisy has been forgotten.

  1. They should ram every last thing through via reconciliation, shut the Republicans out of negotiations completely and blitz the media with their message, showing the American public how badly the Republicans have been screwing them. It's about damn time they relaized they WON, and that they won for a REASON. Stop trying to be Republican-lite.

  2. At least now Obama can in the future say "Hey look I tried and they refuse to work with us" which should shut up Republicans who cry that Obama refuses to compromise.

I mean Obama does not need to compromise since they have a majority. Just push it through since they won't budge.

  3. And what of the Sarah Palin reality show? Any comments?

  4. Republicans wont abide by the argument that Obama tried, because in their eyes, this is not a real offer of bipartisanship. I was very satisfied to see that Obama referenced that reconciliation was good enough for President Bush and his tax cuts and the GOP's yes or no vote moments.

As for Sarah Palin's show... really?

Just another example of her whoring out her family for personal gain, but one could hope that she is not spared from the reality show curse!

  5. BARF Baucus gave up so much in a fruitless attempt to get one Republican vote in the Senate that the current bill is less progressive than the GOP alternative to Clinton's health care proposal. What's in the bill matters not to them.

I think it was you who had jokingly predicted (shortly after the elections were over) that Palin would get a reality show which you named "Pallin' with the Palin's".

Surprised she is doing this so soon after making comments about her grand-baby-daddy Levi pimping himself out on TV.
