Joe Miller Finally Concedes

From a Becky Bohrer article from The Huffington Post:
Republican Joe Miller on Friday ended his legal fight over Alaska's U.S. Senate seat, conceding the race to his bitter rival, incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Miller's decision, announced at a news conference in Anchorage, came one day after the state certified Murkowski as the winner.

Miller had the option of appealing a federal judge's ruling or formally contesting the election results. He believes he is right about the law but thinks it is "very unlikely" an appeals court would side with him. He said he had to accept "practical realities."

Three courts ruled against Miller, who argued the state's handling of the election and vote count for Murkowski, who ran as a write-in candidate, was not in line with the law.
You think Joe Miller would have gotten the picture when the first two judges ruled against him.  While Lisa Murkoski may not be a liberal - she will be caucusing with the Republicans - she is still more moderate then many of the new conservatives heading to Washington )or the re-branded establishment candidates).  Hopefully Murkowski doesn't forget that she won over the right-wing Miller and that she doesn't put her party above the people she is to represent.

  1. Happy New Year, Kevin. I missed you the past week.

Murkowski has already shown she will have nothing to do with the wingnuts with her votes on DADT and the START treaty. Hopefully the economy will start to improve and the wingnuts will be history by 2012.

  2. Happy New Year!

I have been quite busy, as can be seen in the lack of posts (only 24 for December). I also have had a hard time finding news stories I want to talk about. Slow month. I was excited to read about this, and you are right - Murkowski's votes on DADT and START are a good sign but I fear she may still toy with some of the right wing madness. I hope she continues down this path, though. It will definitely cause stirs in the party - the teabaggers will go on the attack but Murkowski simply has to remind them that the people chose her over them... and as a write-in none-the-less...
